ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions rookie defensive end Ziggy Ansah showed up at practice Tuesday. He did not, however, participate.
What that means for the first-round pick out of BYU is still uncertain as Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz is scheduled to speak later Tuesday. Ansah spent most of the open portion of practice with the defensive linemen, clutching a plastic bottle and chatting with staff.
He did, though, hang out at practice and helped the coaches with individual drills.
Running back Montell Owens was not at practice. Owens is expected to go on injured reserve with the designation to return, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday.
All other players were present and accounted for, including safety Louis Delmas, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
Some jersey number changes. New safety DeJon Gomes is No. 24, defensive tackle Justin Bannan is No. 97, tight end Joseph Fauria is No. 80 and cornerback Rashean Mathis is No. 31 in your new programs.
