Georgia coach Kirby Smart made plenty of folks in and around Athens very happy with his most recent recruiting class.
All he did in his second year with the Bulldogs was bring in the No. 3 class, which is the highest ranking the Bulldogs have had by ESPN's recruiting services since it started rating players. Eighteen ESPN 300 members and four five-star prospects all signed with the Dawgs.
So who will be top Dawg in 2017? Though elite defensive backs DeAngelo Gibbs and Richard LeCounte III are already on campus and both should get every opportunity to get playing time in Georgia's already packed secondary, you can't ignore how important and how talented No. 2 offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson is.
Georgia returns just two starting offensive linemen from last year's team, and Wilson has the ability to play right away at one of the tackle spots for the Dawgs in 2017. The 350-pound five-star from Brooklyn, New York, will arrive this summer with a ton of hype, and he was an important part of Smart's first full class in Athens. He already has the ideal size to play tackle in the SEC, and he's pretty athletic with all that weight on, too.
That's very important, because a tackle's ability to move laterally against insanely fast SEC pass-rushers is crucial. Sure, he'll have to adjust to the speed, size and strength of SEC edge players -- and it could be rough at first -- but Wilson has the ability to be a big player at a position of need for the Dawgs early.
