NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- With the 2-14 season in the bank, we’ll spend some time looking back at a dozen plays that defined the Titans' season.
I put them in rough order, but we certainly could shuffle the list without a lot of debate.
Game: Giants 36, Titans 7, Week 14 at LP Field on Dec. 17, 2014.
Situation: Down 23-0 with seven seconds left in the first half, the Titans faced a first-and-10 at their own 26-yard line.
Play: Center Chris Spencer only needed to snap the ball to Zach Mettenberger cleanly for Mettenberger to kneel with it to kill out the half. On his first try, however, Spencer inexplicably was called for a false start. The Titans were pushed back five yards and Spencer managed to get a second try to Mettenberger trouble free. It really cost the Titans nothing. But who false starts on a kneel-down snap? And what did that say about the Titans to botch something that should happen without a hint of an issue? “That's just typical of the way things have gone,” Spencer told The Tennessean after the loss that dropped the Titans to 2-11.
