NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- With the 2-14 season in the bank, we'll spend some time looking back at a dozen plays that defined the Tennessee Titans' season.
I put them in rough order, but we certainly could shuffle the list.
Game: Titans 16, Jaguars 14, Week 6 at LP Field, Oct. 12, 2014.
Situation: Up 16-7 early in the fourth quarter against the winless Jaguars, the Titans allowed a nine-play, 83-yard touchdown drive that cut it to 16-14. Michael Griffin botched a great chance to recover Jacksonville's onside kick and secure the win, and the Jaguars moved 21 yards to the Titans' 37 yard line.
Play: The Jaguars faced third-and-2 from there with 12 seconds left, and they sent Josh Scobee and his big leg on to attempt a 55-yard field goal to win it. Scobee later complained that the officials were slow to get the kicking ball into the game and put the Jaguars in position where they had to rush the kick. Titans defensive lineman Sammie Hill got a hand up and blocked the kick, ensuring the Titans' second, and final, win of the season. Hill saw something earlier on the Jaguars' point-after attempts and took advantage of it. "I kind of felt a little soft edge on the other side of the center," Hill said. "I told them if I get another chance I was going to go up a little bit harder than I did the first time. Just got good push and got my arm up."
One Twitter follower who suggested it:
@PaulKuharskyNFL how about Sammie Lee Hills blocked FG to win the game against the Jags. Moved us from #1 to #2 in draft order.
