News: 3 days agoJones completed one of his five pass attempts for seven yards in Thursday night's preseason finale against the Raiders.
Spin: Jones played just eight offensive snaps in the contest, marking a quick end to the preseason for the veteran backup. Despite the poor outing, Jones is still the most likely No. 2 option at quarterback behind starter Brock Purdy. With Kurtis Rourke (ribs) dealing with an injury, Adrian Martinez will likely fill out the QB room as the team heads into Sunday's cutdown day.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Jones returns for his second go as Brock Purdy's backup in San Francisco after showing well in relief duties in eight starts last season. In those eight appearances, Jones completed 70% of his passes and threw 13 touchdowns to six interceptions. The 2021 first-round pick was a nonfactor with his legs (28-64-0), however, which limited him to an underwhelming 16.3 fantasy PPG. Should Purdy miss time in 2026, Jones will be no more than a fringe QB2. The 28-year-old shouldn't be considered on draft day.
