News: 2 days agoBernard caught four passes on eight targets for 35 yards during the Steelers' 20-3 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

Spin: The rookie second-rounder operated as the WR3 due to the absence of Michael Pittman (foot). Aaron Rodgers struggled at Gillette Stadium, but Bernard did his part by leading the Steelers pass catchers in receiving yards while finishing second in catches behind Roman Wilson (five) and second in targets to DK Metcalf (nine). Pittman's status for Week 3 against the Bengals on Sept. 27 is up in the air, but even if he was ruled out, Bernard's production (along with the other Steelers pass catchers) will be capped unless Rodgers improves his play.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Bernard was selected by the Steelers in the second round of April's draft. Bernard is a solid, reliable receiver with good size who can align all over the formation (55% slot in 53 collegiate games). Despite playing at three schools in four years, Bernard's production increased each season, including a strong 64-862-7 receiving line (plus 18-101-2 rushing) in 2025. He dropped only four of 240 career targets. Bernard is likely to open his career third or fourth in line at receiver behind Michael Pittman Jr., DK Metcalf and perhaps Roman Wilson. That will create a tough path to consistent rookie-season usage and production, so he's only worth draft consideration in the later rounds.
