News: 2 days agoCoach Andy Reid said Monday that Johnson could carve out a bigger role on offense as the season goes along, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.

Spin: "As it goes on, I think you get a nice balance between those two (Johnson and Kenneth Walker), and it keeps them even fresher as the season goes on," Reid said. Johnson handled just four touches on offense in Sunday night's overtime win against the Colts, but he turned them into 35 yards and has looked like a legitimate playmaker two weeks into the 2026 campaign. He's solidified himself as one of the premier fantasy bench stashes at running back behind Walker.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Johnson was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of April's draft. His career 3.4 forced missed tackle rate is fourth best in this RB rookie class and his elusiveness helped him to 1,451 rushing yards (fourth in the nation and first in this class) last season. His lack of speed -- last among 10 RBs who ran the 40-yard dash (4.56) and speed score (93) at the combine -- and size limits him after initial contact (career 2.86 YAC), but he can help out in the passing game (92 collegiate receptions). Johnson and Brashard Smith are set to handle No. 2/3 duties behind Kenneth Walker III. Smith will be worth rostering only if Walker misses action.
