News: 2 days agoVirgil caught three of six targets for 23 yards in a loss to Green Bay during Friday's exhibition contest.

Spin: Virgil's line was especially quiet in comparison to some of the other wideouts he's competing with a for a spot on the 53-man roster, including Simi Fehoko (5-94-2) and Jalen Brooks (4-57-0). Still, Virgil showed pretty well during the exhibition slate overall, catching 12 of 18 targets for 158 yards over four games. The fact that he was a fifth-round pick in April's NFL Draft could also help his case given that the organization might want to take a longer look at him.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Virgil was selected by the Cardinals in the fifth round of April's draft. Virgil is a tall, thin, perimeter, vertical receiver who ranked near the top of this WR rookie class in aDOT (14.7) and YPR (15.8) but near the basement in RAC (4.5), catch rate (54%) and YPRR (1.79) during his career at Miami Ohio and Texas Tech. A class-high 48% of his targets came on deep routes, though he played a more well-rounded role in 2025 -- his lone season with the Red Raiders. Virgil ran a 4.57 40-yard dash at 187 pounds at the combine, which works out to a poor speed score of 86. Virgil will battle Kendrick Bourne for No. 3 duties behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson. He's off the short-term fantasy radar.
