Tottenham's big-name summer signing, it turns out, has two names.
On Tuesday, the north London club announced the transfer of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City. Except at his unveiling, he was referred to as Savio and has opted for that name on his No. 17 jersey.
So, what's in a name? ESPN breaks it down.
What is his real name?
The 22-year-old's full name is Sávio Moreira de Oliveira. He began his career in Atletico Miniero before sealing a move to French side Troyes in 2022.
The winger joined Manchester City in the summer of 2024 after a stellar season on loan at their sister club Girona, where he scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists. He earned his maiden Brazil call-up during his time at Girona and that is where the name-saga finds its origins.
Changing names at City
He went by Sávio until the move to City, and had it emblazoned on his No. 16 jersey at Girona. But after moving to the Etihad, he adopted Savinho.
"[My name change] is because in the national team, the first call-up they put Savinho on the shirt," he said in July 2024.
"People in Girona knew me more as Savinho, it was just written Sávio on the shirt, you know?
"So I told [City] to put Savinho on the shirt and I hope it brings me luck too, this name Savinho."
The return of Sávio
The Brazil international had a middling two-year spell at City. He picked up an impressive 13 assists in his debut campaign in England, but fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola last season and made just 13 starts in all competitions.
Spurs have been pursuing the 22-year-old since last summer, and finally got their man in a deal worth up to £85 million ($116m) per ESPN sources.

No official reason has been given by club or player yet for the reason behind the switch back to Sávio. But, it feels like a decision driven by a desire to make a fresh start and return to being the player that burst onto the scene at Girona.
Sávio could make his debut on Wednesday night against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup.
