Fantasy Men's Basketball
News: 3 days agoSpurs head coach Mitch Johnson said the team will not rush Harris (calf) back to the court, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Spin: "It's a calf strain, the seriousness is what it is," said Johnson. "We won't rush him at all. I guess the question will be is he ready for the season opener? Totally questionable and we will not push that at all. So, we'll take it slow. There is no concern of this level of seriousness, and at the same time, we will not rush him at all." It sounds like Harris, who has already been ruled out for the preseason, is in danger of missing the start of the regular season. His absence, for however long it persists, will open up minutes for Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Harris enters the season competing with Julian Champagnie for the Spurs starting power forward job. He averaged 13.3 PPG and 5.1 RPG in 63 games for the Pistons last season, then raised his production to 18.1 PPG and 7.2 RPG in the playoffs. Harris brings shooting, rebounding and the ability to create his own shot, but San Antonio’s deep rotation could limit his usage. Winning the starting job would give him a clearer path to fantasy value. Given the circumstances, Harris is worth taking a flier on later in drafts.
