Drame leads Quinnipiac past Monmouth 70-61
HAMDEN, Conn. -- Ousmane Drame scored 16 points, grabbed 21 rebounds and blocked seven shots as Quinnipiac topped Monmouth 70-61 Thursday night.
Drame, who had 20 rebounds against Mount St. Mary's on Jan. 31, 2013, tied the school record for rebounds and broke the school record for blocks in a Division I game. Drame's seven blocks broke his own record of six, which he had previously done twice.
Quinnipiac (9-6, 4-2 Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference) trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and went into the break down 31-29.
Deon Jones' jumper gave Monmouth (8-9, 2-4) a 44-42 lead with 12:37 to play but the Bobcats scored 15 of the next 20 points and never trailed again. Zaid Hearst opened and capped the run with 3-pointers.
Umar Shannon scored 16 points and Hearst finished with 15.
Jones paced the Hawks with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
