Jacksonville rallies to beat Florida Gulf Coast 75-67
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Marcel White scored 19 points Saturday and Jacksonville rallied to beat Florida Gulf Coast 75-67 in a tuneup for their quarterfinal rematch in next Tuesday's Atlantic Sun Conference tournament.
Jacksonville's Kori Babineaux added 18 points, and J.R. Holder and Andris Misters scored 10 apiece against the Eagles (21-9, 11-3), who came into the game tied for first with North Florida and secured the No. 2 berth in the tournament
FGCU led early, but Jacksonville (10-21, 4-10) pulled ahead on an 8-4 run capped by a jumper by White and led 38-27 at halftime.
Jamail Jones scored seven straight points amid a 13-0 rally and the Eagles pulled ahead 53-51 on a layup by Julian DeBose with 7:12 left. The lead changed hands three times before Jacksonville ripped a 10-5 run to go up 68-65 with 1:17 left. White, Babineaux and Misters combined for seven free throws in the final 41 seconds.
DeBose led the Eagles with 19.
