ETSU holds off Furman 80-75, stays in SoCon title hunt
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Ge'Lawn Guyn had 23 points and East Tennessee State held off a late rally to beat Furman 80-75 on Thursday night.
The Buccaneers (20-10, 13-4 Southern Conference) had a 14-point lead after Peter Jurkin's 3-point play with 3:36 to play. Furman closed the deficit to 75-72 with a 12-1 rally, capped by Stephen Croone's free throw with 58 seconds left.
T.J. Cromer and Desonta Bradford each made a pair of three throws in the final six seconds to clinch it for ETSU. Cromer finished with 13 points, Deuce Bello and Lester Wilson added 12 each and Isaac Banks scored 10.
Croone led the Paladins (17-13, 11-6) with 19 points, Kris Acox scored 16 and Devin Sibley added 15.
The Buccaneers are a half-game behind conference-leader Chattanooga (13-3). ETSU closes the season, hosting Wofford on Saturday while the Mocs play Samford. Chattanooga then visits VMI on Monday.
