EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets quarterback Vinny
Testaverde was scratched from the exhibition game Friday night with
the New York Giants because of his sprained toe. | | | |
| Testaverde | The Jets said the decision was not weather-related, but rain in
the area made the new grass field at Giants Stadium slippery. Testaverde was hurt last Saturday at Baltimore and was expected
to miss a week. But he returned to practice Tuesday and looked
sharp Wednesday. Still, the Jets played it safe and went with Ray Lucas at
quarterback. Testaverde is coming back from a torn left Achilles'
tendon suffered in the 1999 season opener. The toe injury is on the
same foot. | |
