ESPN 300 defensive end Auston Robertson committed to Michigan State on Sunday, continuing an excellent weekend for the Spartans. The staff added ESPN 300 defensive end Josh King on Friday and still have a few more opportunities left to add to the class in the next few days.
Chicago defensive lineman Naquan Jones announces his decision on Monday and is down to Michigan State, Florida and South Carolina. Fellow Illinois defensive tackle Mike Panasiuk also announces his decision on Monday and has his list narrowed to the Spartans, Wisconsin and Penn State.
There is a good chance both end up choosing Michigan State, which would cap off a huge recruiting weekend for coach Mark Dantonio.
Robertson and King instantly became the Spartans’ highest-ranked commitments at No. 143 and 171, respectively. The staff now has four ESPN 300 commits in the class, which is the most since Dantonio has taken over in East Lansing.
With the potential additions of Jones and Panasiuk also on the horizon, this class could start to creep up into the top classes overall.
Add in the fact Michigan State is also in on top targets such as wide receiver Donnie Corley, Alaric Jackson and a few others, this could very well be Dantonio’s best recruiting class thus far.
Adding Robertson and King will help push for a big finish to this class and the two will eventually help keep Michigan State’s defense at the top of the rankings as well.
