The Texas Rangers activated 1B/OF Kyle Blanks from the 15-day disabled list in time for their series finale Thursday against Oakland.
Blanks, who had been out since May 20 because of a pilonidal cyst near his tailbone, played first base and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts batting out of the cleanup spot in a 7-0 loss to the A's.
Blanks is batting .306 with three home runs and six RBIs in 16 games for the Rangers this season.
To make room for Blanks on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Patton has not appeared in a game since being recalled by Texas on June 7.
