LAKELAND, Fla. -- Detroit Tigers pitcher Montreal Robertson suffered a subluxation of the right shoulder on Saturday, manager Brad Ausmus said.
The injury, as previously reported, occurred over the weekend during a weight-room workout. After Robertson's shoulder "popped out," the training staff had to help him get it back into place.
"He was really just trying to push himself up and somehow, it popped out," Ausmus said, adding that Robertson does not have a history of shoulder dislocation/separation issues. "It was an odd injury. It happened oddly. It's not unheard of that you have that, but it's not typical."
Ausmus said he has yet to hear what sort of timeline should be expected for Robertson's recovery. Robertson was originally slated to pitch on Monday, but was scratched in favor of Cory Riordan.
"It's just a matter of what the course will be to return him to health," Ausmus said. "I'm sure based on what the MRI shows, they'll decide how severe or how mild it is and determine what the best course of action is in terms of getting him back onto the field."
