GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The knee injury that forced Alex Guerrero from the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup Saturday is not considered serious, manager Dave Roberts said.
Guerrero was supposed to be the Dodgers’ designated hitter against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but Shawn Zarraga was moved into that spot instead. The Dodgers won 7-2 to remain unbeaten on the spring (2-0-1).
“It was a slide [in Friday’s game] and it was kind of a tweak of the knee,” Roberts said. “He was in there today so it was a late scratch, but I don’t think it is anything significant.”
Not known for his defense, Guerrero was supposed to be an option for the Dodgers at third base until Justin Turner is completely healthy after his own knee injury that required microfracture surgery in the offseason.
The 29-year-old Guerrero, who hails from Cuba, is in his third season of a four-year, $28 million contract.
