Severino Gonzalez (2-1, 7.11 ERA) will take the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies to start the first game of a three-game series against Bartolo Colon (6-3, 4.85 ERA) and the New York Mets on Monday afternoon at Citi Field.
In his last start, Wednesday against the Rockies, Gonzalez allowed zero runs and five hits in five innings without recording a strikeout in a 4-2 win over Colorado. Gonzalez was the first Phillies starting pitcher to win without striking out a batter since Vance Worley did it Aug. 1, 2012, against Washington.
Gonzalez is looking to win his third consecutive start. The last Phillies rookie to win in three straight starts was David Buchanan, June 14 through June 24, 2014.
