The Baltimore Orioles will start Tyler Wilson (1-0, 4.50 ERA) against Chris Sale (3-2, 4.21 ERA) and the Chicago White Sox in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday. Mike Wright (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will start against Chris Beck (NR) in the second game of the double header. Since 1954, the Orioles are 167-141-287 (sweep-swept-split) in doubleheaders.
Both Wilson and Wright made the MLB debuts earlier this month. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Orioles are the first team to have two pitchers start on the same calendar day that had made their Major League debut for that same team earlier in the same season since the Minnesota Twins did so on August 23, 2014 (Yohan Pino and Trevor May).
Wright is on the verge of team history. He's started his career with 14.1 scoreless innings pitched. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last Orioles pitcher with at least 14.1 scoreless innings to start a Major League career was Dave Ford in September 1978 (Ford began his career with 15 scoreless innings).
