In his 300th career start, Justin Verlander (0-1) got the loss and allowed the 3,000th hit of Alex Rodriguez’s career, as the Detroit Tigers lost 7-2 to the Yankees on Friday.
Verlander became the first Tigers pitcher to allow three home runs and 10 hits in a game since Brad Penny in September 2011.
The loss dropped Detroit 1-4 against the Yankees this season and extended its losing streak to three games.
