The 26-year-old southpaw has a 3.14 ERA through 43 games played this season.
ESPN's Jim Bowden
writes that putting up the best record in baseball since May 24, securing free-agent infielder Yulieski Gurriel and having top prospect Alex Bregman in their back pocket are all advantages that have allowed the Astros to focus on improving their pitching staff. Cervenka would certainly be a backup option for the team, as it is one of the favorites to land either Andrew Miller or Aroldis Chapman if the Yankees do decide to trade them, adds Bowden.
