The Kansas City Royals have struggled this season to defend their World Series title, falling three games under .500. It seems unlikely that the Royals will make a big move to save their season but could sell off their free-agents-to-be.

Buster Olney sees starter Edinson Volquez, designated hitter Kendrys Morales and reliever Luke Hochevar as trade options, considering all three could leave the team at the end of the season. Hochevar joins a crowded relief market but could be one of the lower cost options. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick sees the San Francisco Giants as a fit.
The Giants have been looking into relief pitchers all over the league. San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy likes having a lot of options in the bullpen, and with the Giants faltering as of late, 2-8 in their last 10, they may try to find an upgrade at the end of games.
The Royals drafted Hochevar first overall in 2006 and found his best role when they moved the right-hander to the bullpen in 2013. Hochevar is putting up solid numbers in his second full season back from Tommy John surgery, with a 3.86 ERA and more than a strike out per inning. Hochevar's mutual option for next year is worth $7 million so a team could keep him around next season if it desired.
