Chris Kaman had $1 million worth of salary protection for 2015-16 and Tuesday his contract became fully guaranteed as the Portland Trail Blazers kept him on their roster. From Jabari Young of CSNNW.com:
- "Kaman, 33, will make the full $5 million in the final of a two-year deal he signed with the team after the Trail Blazers elected not to waive the veteran center by the 5PM ET (2PM Pacific) deadline. In his first season with the Blazers, he averaged 8.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in 74 games. The move isn’t a big surprise, as Kaman expressed interest in returning and vowed to continue to help with the development of forward Meyers Leonard. ... Though the move guarantees Kaman’s full salary next season, he could still be traded depending on the route the team goes in free agency. It’s no secret the Blazers plan to pursue free agent center Greg Monroe, and the team just added Mason Plumlee and Noah Vonleh; hence, a move to trade Kaman to is still a possibility, though, the team hasn't indicated such."
