Mitch McGary has missed a bunch of games over the last two years due to injuries. So, with that in mind, he is in the best shape of his life as he has lost 30 pounds. The Oklahoma City Thunder selected McGary with the No. 21 selection in the 2014 NBA draft. From Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman:
- "The differences in Mitch McGary’s game are in the details. Watch the way he now explodes off the floor for rebounds and dunk attempts. Take note of how much better he moves his feet and changes directions. 'I just feel lighter on my feet,' McGary said. 'I mean, 20 pounds lighter from the season is a big adjustment for me.' That’s no misprint. McGary says he’s actually lost close to 30 pounds since the end of last season. And the second-year Thunder forward is feeling how much of a difference the dropped weight has made. 'I’m still trying to get used to the change,' McGary said before cracking a sly smile. 'I didn’t know I could jump this high.' McGary credits the weight loss to cooking classes, a healthier diet and rigorous workouts. By eating better and transforming his body, McGary believes he’ll put himself in a better position to stay healthy and play the best basketball of his life. 'I’m sick of being injured and not being able to play at full strength 100 percent,' McGary said. 'So this summer was really key for me. I stayed in Oklahoma City and just been working my tail off to get into shape.'"
