The Memphis Grizzlies may have a tough choice when it comes to the last roster spot. The 15th position comes down to center Ryan Hollins and forward Jarnell Stokes and a trade might happen by Monday's deadline when all NBA rosters are set. From Ronald Tillery of The Commercial-Appeal:
- "(Head coach Dave) Joerger has gone out of his way to publicly promote Ryan Hollins throughout the preseason. He’s been complimentary of Stokes behind closed doors. So it’s difficult to discern whether Griz coaches are campaigning for Hollins to make another NBA roster or whether the coaching staff really wants to keep him. Hollins is a smart, proven veteran who would give the Griz a legitimate backup center. Although Stokes has a guaranteed deal, I now wouldn’t be surprised if the Griz tried to trade Stokes for a draft pick to free up a spot for Hollins."
Stokes, a second-year forward, is on the books for the minimum of $845,059 this coming season, which should make it easy to trade him if the Grizzlies want to move him off the roster.
