Backup guard Demetrius Jackson could be traded or waived as a way for the Boston Celtics to create enough salary cap room to sign Gordon Hayward. Jackson is fully aware of his uncertain future with the Celtics and says he won't let it bother him.

"I'm not sure [if it was because of the roster situation]," Jackson responded to MassLive.com when asked his thoughts about being held out for the last two games in the Salt Lake Summer League. "I just wanted to come out and cheer for my teammates, and just watch the game, and try to help them and try to get better myself. So I try to leave that stuff to the people who know it well. And I just try to worry about the things I can worry about and focus [on those]."
Jackson, the No. 45 selection in the 2016 NBA draft, is signed through the 2019-20 season, but if the Celtics, or another team, waive him by July 15, they only owe $650,000 for 2017-18 as the rest of the contract is not guaranteed. If Jackson is not released by July 15, his entire $1.38 million salary will be fully guaranteed for this coming season.
In just five appearances during his rookie season with the Celtics, Jackson averaged two points.
