CHICAGO -- Reliever Buddy Carlyle landed on the disabled list Wednesday with lower back and hamstring issues. Left-hander Jack Leathersich will be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas, although he is not due to join the big league team until Thursday's matinee series finale.
Leathersich, Chasen Bradford and Zack Thornton received consideration for the call-up, but Leathersich is the only one of that trio already on the 40-man roster.
Leathersich made two late-April appearances with the Mets.
Carlyle was forced to depart Monday's series opener at Wrigley Field after back spasms intensified covering first base.
Also on the injury front:
Juan Lagares remains sidelined for a second straight game with a slight strain in his right armpit area. The Mets are being cautious with Lagares to let the injury calm.
Dillon Gee, on the DL with a groin strain, resumed throwing Tuesday. Gee may throw four to five innings in the minors as soon as this weekend.
David Wright has not yet resumed baseball activity. He was examined six days ago for lower-back pain and has been getting treatment.
