NEW YORK -- Noah Syndergaard will start Friday's second-half opener against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, New York Mets manager Terry Collins said.
Bartolo Colon and Jonathon Niese will pitch the other two games of that series in some order, Collins added.
That lines up Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey and potentially Syndergaard to face the first-place Washington Nationals in the second series of the second half.
Collins maintained that the Mets have not decided whether they will use five or six starters out of the All-Star break. Still, given the magnitude of the series against the Nats, using Syndergaard as opposed to a sixth starter in D.C. would seem prudent.
