BINGHAMTON 9, TRENTON 4: Gavin Cecchini led the way with four hits and four RBIs, including his seventh homer of the season. L.J. Mazzilli added his second four-hit game since his return from a suspension. Rainy Lara won his first start back with Binghamton after compiling a 7.12 ERA in five starts with Las Vegas. The B-Mets moved within a half-game of first place. After allowing three runs in a four-batter span of the second and third innings, Lara retired the next 13 batters he faced. Binghamton pulled within 3-2 in the fourth when Xorge Carrillo led off with a homer. Binghamton took the lead for good an inning later. Reliever Connor Mullee entered and hit Carrillo with a pitch to load the bases. Mullee followed by walking Gilbert Gomez to tie the score. Cecchini then produced an RBI single. Michael Conforto tripled to lead off the sixth. With two outs, Conforto scored on Josh Rodriguez's single. In the seventh, Cecchini added a solo homer. Cesar Vargas walked two of the first four batters he faced in the eighth. With two outs, Gomez singled for Binghamton’s seventh run. Cecchini followed with an RBI single for his fourth hit of the day. Mazzilli then notched his fourth hit with an RBI single to cap the B-Mets' scoring. Lara (5-2) allowed three runs in seven innings. ST. LUCIE 4, CHARLOTTE 3: The Stone Crabs had two runners in scoring position with one out in the ninth, but Jeff Walters retired the next two batters to earn his second Florida State League save. In the eighth, Charlotte's first two batters reached against Mike Hepple. However, Hepple struck out back-to-back batters and got Mike Marjama to ground into a fielder’s choice to end the threat. In the previous two innings, starting pitcher Logan Taylor pitched around a runner at second base. The Mets overcame a 3-2 deficit with a two-run sixth. Stefan Sabol led off with a single and Phillip Evans followed with a game-tying double. With two outs, Jeff McNeil singled to plate Evans. McNeil finished 3-for-5. He scored the Mets' first two runs. Sabol also had three hits. Taylor allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out seven. The Stone Crabs scored all three of their runs with two outs in the fourth. Box
