ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- New York Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson felt "sore" after fouling a ball off his right foot in the ninth inning on Saturday night at Tropicana Field. Still, Granderson said he did not require X-rays.
His availability for Sunday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays will be determined when he arrives at the ballpark in the morning, although he expressed confidence he should be OK. Mets staff already had presented the option of using him as the designated hitter on Sunday before he fouled the ball off the foot.
"We just iced it and a cold tub like I normally do, and hopefully I'll be good to go tomorrow," said Granderson, who contributed a pair of solo homers in the Mets' 5-4 loss to the Rays. "It just hit in a rough spot. It didn't hit any padding on the shoe or anything like that. But it should be good to go."
