PORTLAND 10, BINGHAMTON 8: Phillip Evans produced his fifth straight game recording at least three hits, going 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs, a walk and two runs scored in the loss. Matt Obserte and Victor Cruzado also drove in two runs apiece. B-Mets starter Tyler Herron allowed six runs (four earned) in three innings. Box
ST. LUCIE 3, PALM BEACH 1: Daniel Bard, a former Red Sox flamethrower, entered a scoreless game in the seventh and plunked Luis Guillorme with his first pitch. He then consecutively walked Jhoan Urena and Jonathan Johnson to load the bases. After a mound visit, Bard’s first pitch to Patrick Biondi struck him to force in a run. Blake McKnight replaced Bard and walked Kevin Kaczmarski to force in another run. Kevin Taylor then grounded into a run-sc0ring double play to make it 3-0. Ben Griset got his second spot start for St. Lucie and logged 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Mike Hepple walked four and hit a batter in 2 2/3 innings, but he only surrendered one run and was credited with the win. Corey Taylor tossed two scoreless innings. Alex Palsha struck out the side in the ninth for his third save. Box
COLUMBIA 5, AUGUSTA 1; COLUMBIA 2, AUGUSTA 0: In the resumption of a suspended game, Nabil Crismatt allowed one run in eight innings and Eudor Garcia had a two-run single in a five-run third. Seth Davis, Craig Missigman and Johnny Magliozzi then combined on a five-hit shutout in the regularly scheduled seven-inning game. Dash Winningham's two-run homer in the first provided the offense. PRINCETON 1, KINGSPORT 0 (10 innings): Placido Torres surrendered a walk-off RBI single to Eleardo Cabrera in the bottom of the 10th. K-Mets starter Adonis Uceta allowed two hits and three walks in eight scoreless innings. Kingsport produced only one hit -- a third-inning single by Yeffry De Aza. Box
LOWELL 4, BROOKLYN 1: Harol Gonzalez was pressed into action when Thomas Szapucki had to be scratched due to a stiff back. Gonzalez quickly found himself in a hole after surrendering a two-out RBI double to Tucker Tubbs in the first. Gonzalez allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks in five innings. Fourteen consecutive Cyclones batters were retired at one point until Anthony Dimino opened the sixth with a double. Dimino, making his Cyclones debut, scored on Michael Paez's single as Brooklyn pulled within 3-1. However, with a pair of runners aboard and nobody out, Desmond Lindsay struck out and Colby Woodmansee grounded into a double play. Dimino’s eighth-inning single was Brooklyn's only baserunner for the remainder of the game. Box
