Washington State's first-team, All-Pac-12 receiver Gabe Marks left the Cougars' first practice Monday with what appeared to be a leg injury and didn't return, according to the Seattle Times.
Marks' status is uncertain because coach Mike Leach doesn't talk about injuries. In fact, he provided his stock quasi-mocking answer when asked about Marks' status and then added, "He's happy as a kid with a new bike."
From the Times:
The injury occurred during a passing drill that pitted the receivers against the defensive backs. Marks lay on the field for a few minutes, then was helped up by the trainers. With a trainer on each side of him, he hobbled off the field and up to the medical tent.
While Washington State is deep and experienced at receiver -- seven of the top-eight receivers from the nation's No. 1 passing offense return -- Marks is clearly QB Luke Falk's first option. He caught 104 passes for 1,192 yards and 15 touchdowns last year, ranking among the Pac-12 and national leaders.
The Times reported sophomore Kaleb Fossum and freshman Isaiah Johnson split reps at Z receiver after Marks went down. Neither caught a pass last year.
