Drafting Tom Brady

At the time, no one gave much thought to the Patriots' 2000 sixth-round draft pick, a skinny quarterback from the University of Michigan. In fact, Tom Brady (right) might not have even made the team as a rookie if Belichick hadn't opted to keep four quarterbacks on the roster. Stuck behind starter Drew Bledsoe (left) and backups John Friesz and Michael Bishop, Brady eventually rose to No. 2 on the depth chart for the 5-11 Patriots -- the only losing team in Belichick's reign in New England.
