Ryan Garcia defeated Conor Benn by second-round TKO in the main event of a Zuffa Boxing card Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Garcia (26-2, 21 KOs) dropped Benn with a right hand in Round 2, and though Benn got back to his feet, Garcia kept throwing punches until referee Thomas Taylor stopped the bout. Garcia was making his first defense of his WBC welterweight championship, which he earned with a victory over Mario Barrios in February. This was Garcia's third fight at 147 pounds.
Garcia entered the fight as a -330 favorite, according to DraftKings, and told "First Take" this week that he was expecting to win by knockout.
Benn (25-2, 14 KOs) suffered his second defeat in his past four fights. Most recently, he fought at a 150-pound catchweight, earning a one-sided decision victory over Regis Prograis in April. The last time Benn fought at 147 pounds before Saturday night was more than four years ago, in April 2022.
