WORCESTER, Mass. -- Sean Goldrich threw for two touchdowns in his first college game to lead New Hampshire over Holy Cross 38-17 Thursday night in the teams' season opener.
The redshirt freshman led back-to-back touchdown drives of 98 and 95 yards in the second half, finishing the second with a 5-yard pass to Joey Orlando on the second play of the fourth quarter for a 32-10 Wildcats lead.
Orlando also scored on a 38-yard pass from backup quarterback Andy Vailas to put New Hampshire ahead 13-7 with 10:04 until halftime.
Goldrich, who led Wildcats rushers with 71 yards on 10 carries, made it 19-7 with an 8-yard pass to R.J. Harris.
New Hampshire rolled up 531 yards to 346 for the Crusaders and maintained possession for 35:16.
Holy Cross' Kevin Watson, a senior making his first start, completed 33 of 47 for 271 yards but was intercepted twice and sacked three times.
