Wagner Seahawks @ Central Connecticut Blue Devils
Wagner 31, CCSU 13
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Backed by 121 yards and two touchdowns from Dominique Williams, Wagner pulled away in the second half to take down Central Connecticut State 31-13 Saturday night in Northeast Conference action.
Wagner (1-3, 1-1 NEC) went into the half up 10-6 and extended that lead on Otis Wright's 27-yard touchdown run early in the third. Williams stretched the advantage to 24-6 later in the quarter with a 2-yard rushing score.
Andrew Clements -- who tossed a 17-yard touchdown to Anthony Julbes at the end of the first quarter -- cut the Seahawks' advantage to 24-13 with a 2-yard touchdown run early in the fourth.
CCSU's (0-4, 0-1) comeback hopes were dashed less than two minutes later, though, when Williams ran in from 37 yards out to extend the lead.
Williams picked up his 121 yards on 21 carries and was the biggest contributor to Wagner's 271 yards rushing as a team.
