CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Jacob Huesman ran for 130 yards and two scores and Kendrix Huitt added 137 yards and a touchdown as Chattanooga finished with 29 unanswered points to beat Western Carolina 45-24 Saturday in Southern Conference action.
Western Carolina (1-9, 0-8) took a 14-7 lead on a 14-yard interception return for a score by Elijer Martinez in the first quarter, and finished the half up 24-16.
In the second half, Huesman ran in touchdowns of 51 and 5 yards to take a 30-24 lead, and then Huitt and Terrell Robinson ran in scores of 74 and 3 yards, respectively, to lock down the victory.
The Mocs (5-4, 4-1) outgained the Catamounts 474-288, including a 367-112 advantage in rushing yards. Chattanooga averaged 7.8 yards per rush over 47 attempts.
With the win and first-place Georgia Southern's loss to Appalachian State, Chattanooga's hopes for a Southern Conference title are still alive.
