LORETTO, Pa. -- John Kelly threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to lead St. Francis (Pa.) past Sacred Heart 44-24 Saturday.
St. Francis (5-6, 4-4 Northeast Conference) dominated in the first half.
After a 3-3 tie following the first quarter, Kelly found Kevin Parker for an 8-yard touchdown and the 10-3 lead. Kelly completed 6 of 12 passes for 58 yards.
After a 35-yard rushing touchdown by Anthony Abeid extended the lead to 17-3 midway through the second quarter, Kelly pushed the advantage to 24-3 on a 10-yard run with just 20 seconds left in the half. Kelly finished with 187 yards rushing on 29 carries.
St. Francis led 24-3 at halftime.
Sacred Heart (2-9, 1-7) would get within 17 points of the Red Flash twice in the second half, but Kelly would respond with 8-yard touchdown passes to Dane Domonkos and Dan Conley to hold off the Pioneers.
