Tuskegee Golden Tigers @ Alabama A&M Bulldogs
Tuskegee upsets rival Alabama A&M 23-7.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Quarterback Justin Nared was 11 of 18 for 206 yards and threw three touchdowns to lead Tuskegee over Alabama A&M 23-7 in an upset victory on Saturday.
Tuskegee scored 17 points in the first half and its defense shut down the Bulldog's offense, limiting them to a single touchdown in the third quarter. Nared connected on a 56-yard pass to Marquel Gardner at the start of the fourth quarter to seal the win in Tuskegee's season opener.
The Golden Tigers defense kept the Alabama A&M off-balance all night, recovering two fumbles and limiting them to a single score.
Tuskegee lost a 7-6 nail biter to Alabama A&M last year, giving them its only regular-season loss. Tuskegee hasn't beaten Alabama A&M since 2008 in a rivalry that dates back to 1932.
Alabama A&M's sole touchdown came on a 2-yard TD run by Barrington Scott.
