Central Connecticut State slips by Albany 20-17
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Rob Hollomon rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown but it was a late field goal that sent Central Connecticut State over Albany 20-17 on Saturday night.
Steven Calitri converted a 40-yard field goal with 17 seconds remaining in the game to break a 17-17 tie and give Central Connecticut State the win.
The Blue Devils (1-3) won their first game of the season while leaving Albany (1-3, 0-1 Colonial Athletic Association) still in search of its first win at newly-opened Bob Ford Field.
After the teams traded first-quarter field goals Omar Osbourne had a pair of go-ahead touchdown runs for the Great Danes, the second of which gave Albany a 17-10 third-quarter lead.
But Hollomon broke a 59-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 17-17 before the late field goal.
Osbourne logged 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead the Great Danes.
