UAB Blazers @ Florida Intl Golden Panthers
UAB beats Florida International, 27-24
MIAMI -- Ty Long kicked a 28-yard field goal with 10 seconds left in the game to put UAB over Florida International 27-24 in a Conference USA matchup Saturday night.
Long's game-winning kick blunted a late game rally by Florida International and came at the end of a 70-yard Blazers drive led by QB Austin Brown with less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter. Brown was 19 of 30 for 188 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Howard rushed for 20 carries and 159 yards.
The Blazers (2-4, 1-1 Conference USA) had a 21-17 lead at the half and the UAB defense was able to hold the Golden Panthers (1-5, 1-1) to just 30 yards of total offense in the third quarter. But Florida rallied in the fourth on a 9-play, 75-yard drive culminating in a 13-yard Jake Medlock touchdown pass to tie the game at 24.
