Sacramento St. pounds North Dakota 31-7
GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Garrett Safron passed for one touchdown and rushed for two more as Sacramento State pounded North Dakota 31-7 in Big Sky conference play on Saturday.
Safron was 19-of-24 for 202 yards. Fullback Brandon Kellermann rushed for 119 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown to help the Hornets (4-4, 3-1) amass 378 yards in total offense and give them a 17-0 halftime lead.
The Sacramento State defense held UND (2-5, 1-3) to a total of 49 rushing yards, forced a fumble, and intercepted North Dakota QB Joe Molberg three times. Molberg was 18-of-39 for 167 yards.
The lone UND touchdown came in the third quarter after a 16-play, 73-yard march culminated in a 1-yard TD run by Adam Shaugabay.
The Hornets move to 3rd place in the Big Sky while UND drops to 10th after losing 5 of its last 6 contests.
