Appalachian State beats Georgian Southern 38-14
BOONE, N.C. -- Kameron Bryant was 27 of 33 for 381 yards with four total touchdowns, two passing and two rushing, to lead Appalachian State over Georgian Southern 38-14 on Saturday.
With the victory, the Mountaineers (2-6, 2/3 Southern Conference) ended a four-game skid and kept hope alive of avoiding their first losing season since 1993.
Marcus Cox led the Appalachian State running game 104 yards on 20 carries. Tony Washington had five catches for 129 yards while Andrew Peacock added 10 catches for 127 yards.
Georgia Southern (4-3, 2-3) scored the first points of the game on a 9-yard run by Jerick McKinnon.
McKinnon sprained his ankle in the second quarter while the score was tied. Kevin Ellison relieved him at quarterback and ran for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Appalachian State and Georgia Southern played their last game as Southern Conference rivals before they both join the Sun Belt next year.
