McNeese St overpowers Northwestern St 43-17
LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Marcus Wiltz rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown to lead McNeese State past Northwestern State 43-17 Saturday night.
After McNeese State's Jereon McGilvery returned a punt, which was partially blocked by Deltoine Scott, 20 yards for a touchdown, Chris Moore kicked a 19-yard field goal to give Northwestern State a 10-7 lead with 8:27 left in the first half. The Cowboys then rattled off 36 straight points.
McNeese (9-2, 5-1 Southland Conference) rushed the ball 52 times for 285 yards and three touchdowns and possessed the ball for nearly 39 minutes while converting 11 of 16 third downs. The Demons converted just 4 of 12 and were limited to 70 yards on the ground.
Kelvin Bennett finished with 115 yards rushing for the Cowboys.
Louis Hollier III had 106 yards receiving and a touchdown for Northwestern State (5-6, 2-4).
