UC Davis tops Cal Poly 48-35 for first Big Sky win
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Gabe Manzanares ran 37 times for 230 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday night, and UC Davis snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 48-35 win over Cal Poly.
Manzanares' third TD run midway through the third quarter gave the Aggies (2-8, 1-6 Big Sky) all the points they would need at 38-21 and Ben Scott's 2-yard touchdown pass to Zach Boman extended the lead to 48-28 early in the fourth.
Scott finished 24 of 32 for 298 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, and Ramon Vargas had five catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Cal Poly (6-5, 5-3) trailed 31-14 at halftime after allowing the Aggies to score 17 straight in the second quarter. The Mustangs had 298 yards rushing with Kori Garcia running 20 times for 151 yards and a touchdown.
