Sacramento State downs UC Davis 41-30
DAVIS, Calif. -- Garrett Safron was 25 of 33 for 288 yards and four touchdowns to lead Sacramento State over UC Davis 41-30 on Saturday.
Sacramento State (7-5, 4-4 Big Sky) led 13-7 after the first on a pair of Safron touchdown passes -- of 22 yards to Jordan Robinson and 37 yards to DeAndre Carter. Carter finished with nine catches for 121 yards.
UC Davis (2-9, 1-7) prompted a 20-20 halftime tie after Manusamoa Luuga rumbled for a 34-yard score and Ben Scott found Gabe Manzanares from 8 yards out with 21 seconds left. Manzanares had 161 yards on 23 carries and six catches for 44 yards while Scott went 22 of 31 for 240 yards and 3 TDs.
The Hornets retook the lead in the third on De'Jon Coleman's 1-yard plunge following a 12-play, 71-yard drive, then ran away in the fourth on Safron's 21-yard pass to Robinson and Coleman's 22-yard run.
