Richmond rolls through Morehead State, 55-10
RICHMOND, Va. -- Michael Strauss completed 17 of 23 passes for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns, all three to different receivers, to lead Richmond to a 55-10 win against Morehead State on Saturday.
Strauss was one of 20 players named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List in 2014, an award given to the most outstanding player in FCS.
Brian Brown had 5 catches for 110 yards to lead all Spiders receivers, and Stephen Barnette added 6 catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Barnette is coming off a season in which he set the school record for receiving yards and ranked 10th nationally.
Austin Gahafer led Morehead State with 174 yards passing.
The Spiders, who are ranked 24th in the FCS coaches poll, extended their winning streak in home openers to nine.
