Strauss, Richmond handle Albany 41-28
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Michael Strauss threw for 277 yards with three touchdowns and Richmond defeated Albany 41-28 on Saturday night.
The Spiders (4-2, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) moved out to a 27-7 lead late in the first half fueled by two touchdown passes from Strauss and a 2-yard rushing score by Seth Fisher. Strauss threw a 35-yard strike to Stephen Barnette to make it 34-10 in the third quarter.
Will Fiacchi threw a 16-yard touchdown to Cole King and Jake Meek added a 3-yard run, but Albany (4-2, 1-2) still trailed 34-22 with 10:41 remaining after failed two-point attempts.
Fisher finished with 85 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns and Barnette had 109 yards on nine receptions. Strauss was 26 of 36 with two interceptions.
Fiacchi had 341 yards on 28-of-49 passing with two touchdowns and an interception. King had 145 yards receiving and Meek had two rushing scores.
