Albany overcomes turnovers, beats Colgate 24-17
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Will Fiacchi passes for one touchdown and ran for two more, including a 2-yard run with 16 seconds left, to help Albany beat Colgate 24-17 on Saturday.
Fiacchi finished with 231 yards passing with two interceptions. He added 37 yards on 10 carries.
Albany (6-2) controlled the clock for most of the first half, including a 16-play, 79-yard game-opening drive that took 8:11 off the clock set up a 32-yard field goal by Patrick Toole.
A 1-yard touchdown run by Fiacchi, early in the second quarter, made it 10-0.
Colgate (4-4) used a 7-yard touchdown run by James Travellin and a 38-yard field goal by Jonah Bowman to tie it going into halftime.
After trading touchdowns in the second half, Fiacchi's second TD run proved to be the winner.
Albany, which came into the game ranked first in the FBS in turnover margin (2.43), lost the turnover battle 3-0.
